First timer ticket for "oscar's bookclub"
"with freedom, books, flowers & the moon, who couldn't be happy?" - Oscar Wilde
We meet on the full moon; we discuss the book we've just read; we drink wine & we howl at the moon; all from within a flower shop...who couldn't be happy?
As a first-timer your ticket includes your first glass of wine or alternative, and tells the team at Stems & Vines know to expect you for our next meet-up.
This is a very relaxed bookclub; mingling & catching up and getting to know any newbies will be how we begin; then some question-led discussions about the book we've just read, before reading the first chapter, or few pages of the next book.
We will pull in some talk of the moon, the energy shifts throughout the month, or any significant lunar occasions upcoming or just passed.
We are currently reading:
"Reading Lolita in Tehran" by Azar Nafisi
ISBN (978-0241246238)
We have some spare copies in the shop that we purchased from Bookshop.org and would suggest that if you can’t pop into your local independent bookshop that you order from here : BUY YOURS HERE
The next meeting is:
Wednesday 29th July, 7pm at Stems & Vines, 151 Askew Road W12 9AU, however, if the weather is good, we will relocate to our al fresco location in Ravenscourt Park, by the big tree stump in the main field - we will confirm closer to the time.
We are yet to decide the NEXT book... but feel free to make some suggestions when you buy your ticket!
We also have a Whatsapp Group - so after attending your first bookclub, you can decide if you would like to keep coming, and be added to the group to be involved with the discussion & polls on the upcoming books.
