STEMS & VINES

- IN THE SHOP -

What kind of things to expect happening in STEMS & VINES

Floral Workshops teaching specific techniques:

  • The perfect spiral bouquet

  • Ikebana - Japanese flower arranging

  • Tablescaping for dinner parties

  • Working in colour hues

  • Low runner arrangements

  • Spring, Autumn & Christmas wreath making

  • Mid-Summer flower crowns & other “Scandi” florals

  • Living vases / Terrariums

  • “You B’OKquet mate?” an evening encouraging men to come and experience the mental wellbeing of using their hands to arrange flowers

  • And definitely many more… but the beauty of having our own space on the high street is that if you want to come and learn something specific, we can probably find the time and space to teach you 1-2-1

Community & Cultural Events:

  • A Conversation With… guest speakers from the Wine, Floral & Event Industries

  • Oscar’s Book Club : a book club that meets on the Full Moon each month, taking inspiration from the Oscar Wilde quote "With freedom, books, flowers, and the moon, who could not be happy?" These monthly events will be designed so that we can raise funds to support charities which grant people freedom (refugees, education of girls, support for DA victims, and we are sure many other charities which enable people to find their way to freedom)

  • Workshops, led by other local Artisan’s which we would host, Embroidery Afternoon’s, Calligraphy Classes, Poetry/Creative Writing, Pottery, Sip & Paints

  • Poetry Jams

  • Jazz Afternoons

  • Classical Music Recitals

Special ticketed “Foodie” evenings once a month, maybe not a full sit-down dinner but scrumptious morsels to satisfy alongside the wine. These are some ideas we have so far:

  • Oysters & Champagne (probably a NYE special)

  • More Cheese “Gromit”, a Cheese & Wine Tasting Menu hosted with a Cheesemonger/Cheese Maker

  • “Brit Pop” Series, with over 1000 Vineyards in the UK this may be quite an extensive experience - probably best to space it over a few evenings …

  • Dumplings & Wine

  • We can’t do Steak Nights…but we could do Steak Tartare Nights (!)

  • Wine Makers Dinners: an engaging evening being talked through the whole range from a particular vineyard, led by their Wine Maker aka the “Wine Wizards”, accompanied by food provided by one of our amazing Event Caterer Suppliers.

Interior Design Inspiration

For the last 18 months I have worked with local Askew resident & Olivier Award winning set-designer Damien Stanton, of Stanton.Design to bring my vision for inside Stems & Vines to life.

Below are some of the inspirational images we gathered at the very beginning to visually represent the space we want you all to feel most comfortable in.

All the computer designed images of the interior of Stems & Vines have been created by Damien, and are in fact of the original site - which we will be continuing on at our new home, as much as possible.
