An elegant, cool-climate Pinot with a distinctly English accent. Aromas of wild strawberry, sour cherry, and rose-hip meet hints of forest floor and subtle spice. The palate is light-bodied but finely structured, with bright acidity, gentle tannins, and a whisper of oak. Silky, savoury, and refreshingly pure.

Drink with: duck rillettes, mushroom risotto, or grilled trout.

Our advise: if it’s warm outside, pop this bottle in the fridge for an hour or two before drinking to really up it’s refreshing nature - delish!

More about this wine: “2022 was a long, dry and hot summer, with perfect ripening conditions here in our South Devon vineyard, with harvest taking place from mid-September to mid-October. All grapes were hand-picked and bought back to the winery, where we cold macerated them for two days, with 35% whole bunch and the rest crushed and de-stemmed before spontaneously fermenting on skins for 10-days. 35% of the wine was then matured in third and fourth-fill French oak barrels for between 18-24 months and some remained in stainless steel and was bottled without filtration.”

More about this vineyard: “We have been producing award-winning English wines for over 40 years on the banks of the River Dart in South Devon, making us one of the pioneering modern wine producers in the UK. Our original vineyard was planted on the Sharpham Estate in 1981 by Maurice & Ruth Ash, whose nephew Mark Sharman, along with our head winemaker Duncan Schwab, went on to craft a range of unique wines that have gained many national and international accolades over the decades.”

At Sandridge Barton, Duncan and the team from Sharpham continue to make wines that reflect and celebrate the South Devon climate, just as was intended 40 years ago.
